Reflections from Arina , one of the participants from Armenian group.
The project “Dancing Our Roots” was truly unforgettable. Over ten incredible days, we delved into a range of activities—dancing, practicing, and discovering each other’s cultures. We enjoyed delicious dishes from every participating country and immersed ourselves in the beauty of national dances and songs.
The daily performances, which included participation from the local community of Cortes de la Frontera, were a profound highlight. It was amazing to see how our shared passion for culture united us and how the local people actively engaged with and enjoyed our performances.
During Armenian Cultural Night, we presented an interactive performance titled “7 Days, 7 Nights.” This performance highlighted the traditional Armenian wedding, which is celebrated over seven days and nights.
The event featured a series of engaging Armenian national games to select participants for key wedding roles, including the groom, bride, and best man. This interactive approach allowed attendees to experience the traditional wedding customs firsthand.
The performance was enhanced by Armenian folk songs, which added a genuine touch to the celebration. To conclude, we conducted a dance session where participants learned traditional Armenian folk dances such as “Kochari,” “Tamzara,” and “Tsaghkadzori.”
Overall, the event successfully showcased Armenian wedding traditions and actively involved the audience in celebrating and learning about Armenian culture.
It’s difficult to express the depth of gratitude and excitement I feel from this exchange. The personal connections, cherished memories, and extraordinary people I met made this experience truly special. I miss you all dearly and hold each of you in my heart with immense appreciation and love.
Special thanks to Armenian Youth League for this opportunity.
